I had my son in mid November in AMU. I had originally been booked for a planned section but baby didn’t want to wait and despite still being offered my CS, we decided we would try for a natural delivery. From the moment we arrived at maternity assessment to when we were discharged from the ward 6 days later we met some incredible staff who are an absolute credit to the profession. I wish I could remember everyone’s names but some memorable people were: Gemma and Claire, the midwife and student who supported us through labour delivered our boy safely into the world. You were both absolutely amazing and I’m so glad, Claire, that my little one could be your 8th delivery. You are an amazing midwife already and I wish you all the best in your future training and career. Thank you Gemma for everything, from keeping me calm to helping me believe I could do this.
MCAs Jayde, Eilidh and Angela, and Midwife Lesley, on the inpatient ward. How can I ever thank you for all your support, words of encouragement and a shoulder to cry on when things were tough. You looked after us like I was your own sister/daughter and cared for our little one like he was your own. I’ll forever be grateful for your compassion and care that saw us leave the hospital positive to be going home as a family unit. Thank you will never be enough, they’re the only words I have, and I’ll always be in your debt.
Liz (domestic on the inpatient ward) - watching you work your socks off day in and day out was actually quite humbling. Thank you for good chats, all your support and making me smile on some dark days. I can’t believe you’re still working in your 70's simply because, as you told me, you love your job, you love the women you speak to and the satisfaction you get from the job you do. You’re amazing.
We feel incredibly blessed to have had such a wonderful team to care for all of us as we began this journey into parenthood and despite not being able to remember everyone’s names, we’ll never forget how you made us feel. Thank you xx
