"Great treatment"

About: Whiston Hospital

I was referred by GP for immediate assessment (Fri 1.20 pm) As always it was bustling and busy and had people waiting. I waited patiently and they quickly confirmed I had cardiac block and needed to wait for a bed, a pacemaker and to be constantly monitored.

Fri a few hours later, a room in A & E was found and had regular checks on me. I was waiting for a bed on cardio ward upstairs which was vacated Saturday eve at 11pm.

All the nurses were great despite the massive work load and demands of other patients.

Only thing I struggled with was no patient toilets access (the general public used the same one). Ideally there should be a separate one for patients and public. Also, having checked the boredom cupboard courtesy of a sympathetic nurse there were no books to borrow (I had finished mine).

Otherwise excellent care taken

Hi Ann,

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback, about your recent visit to our emergency department at Whiston hospital and your stay on one of our cardio wards.

We are glad to hear that you are happy with the care you received from staff during your stay here. But also apologise for any inconvenience caused due to patients and the public accessing the same toilet facilities, unfortunately this is due to limited facilities within the department. However, we will share your feedback with the relevant departments, as we are sure the staff involved in your care would love to receive your feedback. While the other relevant departments look into the facilities aspect.

Best wishes,

Patient Experience and Inclusion Team
