"Made such a difference to my son"

About: Arrol Park Resource Centre / Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

(as a parent/guardian),

Paediatric OT services in the south have made such a difference to my son, not just now, but also when he was first diagnosed with DCD. My son is 13 right now and waiting for an autism assessment. He has been struggling with fatigue and missing a lot of school.

Kirsty has been working with my son, and has such a lovely way of guiding and supporting him to make good choices. I love how she has the ability to build the relationship with my son, and has some great ideas to help support him. When she worked with him when he was 5 years old, Kirsty used his interests to make the exercises fun!

Now, she is supporting him to attend school more often, whilst still allowing him some autonomy over his decisions, and this is the difference. He is not just being told what would work, she is including him in the decision making process.

Kirsty has also managed to get an appointment with a paediatric doctor, which means the world as previously paediatrics at cross house refused to see my son. I really do value the difference she has, and continues to make in his life.

Thank you Kirsty for all you...you are an incredible clinician. From one slightly less stressed out mum!

Dear Lindee79

With apologies for the delay, I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience of the care provided by the Paediatric OT Service at Arrol Park

I am delighted to hear that you and your son have received such professional and empathetic care, from our staff. It’s often the small things that can make such a difference, such as taking time to build a relationship with a child who is struggling and listening to their concerns and worries. I’m so glad that Kirsty has been able to put your son at ease during his time with her.

Our staff really appreciate receiving feedback from their patients and it will be my pleasure to share your kind comments with the Team in the Department and with Kirsty in particular. I know Kirsty will be delighted to know that you both feel so well supported by her.

Please accept my best wishes and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience.

Kind regards

Pamela
