I have been meaning to do this review for a while. I was at Chalkhill for around 7/8 months, and the treatment I received here could not have been more helpful, caring, outstanding they really did save my life. I was admitted to Chalkhill in late August 2012 for the treatment of an eating disorder, I really was terrified. I am only twelve years old and was very worried about the patients I would be on the unit with but really I had nothing to worry about. If at any time I felt scared or worried a member of staff would be there to help me with my worries. The staff here really are so amazing and caring they work really well as a team and provide an atmosphere that feels closer to a school than hospital. I was admitted to Chalkhill in a very sorry state but with the help from my treatment team I left feeling a whole lot better, some people say that it is almost like they brought me back to life. The school on the unit is very good we were kept up to date on our work but at the same time the teachers where aware that some days we where going to struggle mentally and didn't need to be pushed to hard. After school we were kept entertained if not by the sometimes odd staff then with activities. They also helped me to slowly integrate back into normal school. The reviews Chalkhill have got on here that are bad are not accurate and really should not be listened to. I am not fixed but Chalkhill are not there to fix people they are there to help them get out of the danger zone. Again I cannot express how wonderful the teachers and staff were and I really hope they know that. I often find myself missing Chalkhill because of the safety and security they gave you in there. Thank you so much to every single member of staff at this place because honestly you brought me back to life. One last point I am still owed a micro pig! Though I think next time you have a patient with a love for Winnie the pooh hold back on the poo(h) jokes. Another very nice aspect is that when i left i was highly encouraged to keep in contact with the staff to update them on my progress, which i will be doing in the very near future (expect a phone call any day now). Little Donkey ;D
