"I found it very reassuring"

About: NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde / Home Birth Team

(as the patient),

I was undecided about having a home birth and decided to go ahead after a home visit from one of the team. Then my midwife suggested I attend one of the 'meet the team' sessions at the New Victoria hospital on a Saturday morning.

It was really helpful to meet all of the midwives who may be present at my upcoming birth, to meet other parents who have decided to choose this option, and to hear from a mother who recently had a very successful home birth with the team.

I found it very reassuring and it helped to solidify my decision, I fully intend to attend more of these meetings with my partner ahead of our baby's arrival.

I think this is a very helpful service and something very beneficial for people like me who are very interested in the idea of home birth but don't know anybody who's been through it personally.
