"No care or dignity"

About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary / General surgery

(as a relative),

My dad was admitted here at the end a few times. I can’t explain or emphasise on how bad the care for end of life was for my dad. Whether it’s short staffed, overworked or lack of empathy it should be a staff’s commitment to patients and a purpose of hospital to take care and treat patients.

I am disgusted at some of situations we were in, almost left with no hope or care. Patients were left with no dignity. Those who have family to take control were looked after. Those who don’t were unfortunately just left to it. We often called out nurses for the whole ward not just our dad as it seemed they were just being ignored and that was not nice to witness. I think the hospital and staff (that we experienced) have lost their purpose and really need to evaluate what they are doing. Some are amazing and thank you to them but sadly it’s just some. I am glad we were those who could take control and look after my dad and not be left to these people.
