"Poor practice"

About: Erith & District Hospital

I have recently come here for my partner I think this practice is very poor they are not very professional, as he has infection inside his leg we went their on a Saturday morning, when he was seen by the doctor he wasn’t very understanding wouldn’t let my partner explain anything sent him away with 5 days worth of antibiotics, his words was if doesn’t get better within 3 days to come back, 3 days went by and we had to go back they done x-ray said everything was fine to go home and continue what we was doing I asked saying does he not need stronger antibiotics or more they said no and sent us away, came to the end of the antibiotics and was still really bad so we had to go up darenth valley A&E they said the infection hasn’t got any better and looks very angry so basically the antibiotics they prescribed didn’t even work! If they was very experienced with this type of thing I would rather them sent us up A&E at the beginning so could have sorted it properly, as the infection could have gone to his bone!

Dear Ellie

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback, I am sorry that your experience when you attended with your partner was not a positive one. It is difficult to answer with detail as I have not got the clinical notes to view.

Generally antibiotics take 3 days to start working which is why you were told to return after 3 days if there was no improvement. The Doctor that saw him on his return visit must have been happy with how it was going or they would have changed the management or referred him elsewhere.

As I said earlier it is difficult to give a detailed response without the clinical notes and speaking to the clinicians, but I am sorry that your partner needed to attend A&E. If you would like me to look into this further your partner will need to contact me and I am happy to do so.

I do hope your partner is recovering well

Kind Regards

Sue
