I can't find the story of my stay in the new orthopaedic centre in Kirkcaldy Victoria hospital Fife.
I went in to have a replacement hip. Mr Keenan did my op. He is an amazing surgeon. When I had my left hip done I was left with my right leg shorter by about a few centimetres and had a get a wedge in my shoe. So I asked if he could please make both legs the same. Anyway my op went perfectly well and when the numbness went I didn't have any pain at all, just nippy on my clips. I am now 4 weeks post op and have not a bit of pain and my legs are the same length.
I asked for my favourite tunes to be played through the headphones, obviously Queen, I was just quite comfy just singing away. I bet the staff had a good laugh. Mr Keenan is not only a brilliant surgeon but also one of the nicest men ever. Always smiling and chatting. The rest of the staff were just amazing too. From the bottom of the pile to the top all made me relaxed and just make my stay easy.
I also want to say thank you to Johan, she came to take me to theatre and we just chatted away. Then we were singing Queen songs in the rep room. And later as I was taking a walk around the ward she talked with me and we had a bit of banter.
So to anyone going in to have anything done ie a hip or knee replacement you will be well looked after. Thank you all so much.
"The staff were just amazing"
