"Each of you is an asset to the profession"

About: Perth Royal Infirmary / Clinical Investigations Unit

(as the patient),

All the staff at the Clinical Investigation Unit, Perth Royal Infirmary, are truly amazing!

They are all so dedicated and committed I feel it only right that I mention their names to ensure they get the credit they deserve.  A massive thank you to Denise, Mairi, Andrew, Jacqui, Rachel, Hazel, Janice and Catherine - each of you is an asset to the profession and a credit to NHS Scotland.

You have all been so caring and compassionate of patients' needs no matter how busy the unit has been.  You work so well as a team ensuring each others wellbeing and supporting each other to provide the best quality patient care.  You are each autonomous and responsible and accountable for safe, compassionate, person-centred, evidence-based nursing that respects and maintains every persons dignity and human rights.

You have treated me as a person, taking genuine interest in me and my needs showing empathy and compassion and really hearing my story.  You each have shown professionalism and integrity and work within recognised professional, ethical and legal frameworks. I have felt safe and secure in the care you have provided me and have fully trusted your professionalism and competency.  I have also witnessed how well you work in partnership with other health and social care professionals and departments and most importantly patients, putting relationship based practice at the heart of all that you do.

Thank you for making my week-long time on the ward as nice as possible given my circumstances, and for genuinely caring about all your patients.  You bring fun, laughter and humour, which is definitely the best form of medicine.

I understand you have been nominated for the Tayside STARs awards and I want you to know that if it was a patient vote the Clinical Investigations Teams would win hands down!  I want you all to know that in your patients eyes you are all winners!

Dear May17

Many thanks for your very positive feedback you have given in regards to your recent visit to PRI CIU. We do endeavour to promote person centred care and I am delighted you felt safe and secure in the care you were given over the 5 days you attended.

I will ensure that we share this feedback with everyone involved with your care. It would be nice to receive a star award.

Best Wishes

Janice Mile
