"My recovery"

I had been referred to Employment Services to access some support during my sickness time off work. I was struggling with my employer at that point, however I loved the job which I had been doing but due to difficulties I took some time away from work. I was also worried about returning back to work.

My mental health nurse (Dawn) referred me to employment services and this is where I met with Raveena. She had contacted me and explained the support and how she could help me. Raveena attended meetings with me during my back to work meetings with the employer which has been really difficult as the employer was not supportive.

There had been many challenging moments with my employers meetings and through the support of Raveena and her manager Younis, I was able to understand what my rights were. It helped me to make right decisions and what I needed to do. My options were explained to me and guidance around what decision to be made.

I felt that I was listened to and also had some support to help understand what the employer was demanding from me. During this time Raveena came and supported me in my work place to see how effectively I did my role and created plans to help my employer understand the ongoing employment needs. 

Unfortunately the employer failed to provide the ongoing support and I had to take some more time off work - but my support from Raveena continued on. 

I was supported around positive decision making and I took the opportunity to resign from my employer to focus on my recovery which I feel was the right decision for me. I was guided on benefits, housing, training and courses along with focusing on myself. 

I feel that with the employment services input I had made the right decision and now focusing on my recovery and wishing to return back in future to seek further support once I am ready to seek paid employment.
