In 2024 I was recovering from acute myeloid leukaemia and needed to get fit again after many months lying in Belfast City Hospital (Ward 6N and Ward 10N) where, by the way, I had the most wonderful and unimpeachable care. The Friends of the Cancer Centre there support an initiative for an in-hospital and outpatient remote (Teams) exercise regime which is run by Joe.
Although trying to get fit again and recover from cancer is difficult, I found Joe's video sessions very useful and enjoyable and a great help to get me on my way. He had a way of keeping one on one's toes (!!) and ensuring we got the most out of the exercises while also keeping an eye on each one of us via a Teams linkup to keep us safe. All that while maintaining an easy going and approachable attitude.
I am most thankful to Joe and to the Friends of the Cancer Centre who support the initiative.
