(as a service user),

To Dr Smith-Walker and all staff who treated me in Eden Ward, Treliske Hospital, on recently (check-in/appointment time, surgery: laparoscopy, hysteroscopy)...

I would just like to say a huge thank you for your great care, consideration, skill, patience (particularly while my breathing/oxygen levels were obviously low), protection of dignity (as much as was possible under the circumstances!), clarity of explanation, and general fabulousness! You were so calming and reassuring (and I actually already miss that in my life!).

The Surgeon, Anaesthetists, and the entire team were superb in every way.

Sadly, I don't remember any names (apart from that of the lovely surgeon) - or specific roles - but I do remember some faces. The nurse in the Eden Ward recovery room (long brown hair in a ponytail) was lovely and is clearly a kind-hearted person. Also those in the EPOC ward where I ended up. I cannot emphasise enough the difference a big smile, a little kindness, and a sprinkling of humour makes when a person is feeling at their most vulnerable. It is noted and appreciated, especially as I can appreciate this may not always be easy considering the long shifts you all work.

Thank you ALL, from the bottom of my heart, for looking after me.

One thing I do remember, is telling the anaesthetists all about where I work and what I do - giving a run down of the company!! I remember trying to talk as quickly as I could so I could explain it all before the general anaesthetic took effect!! I'm sure they were very interested! Oh dear!! I'm nothing but entertaining!🤦🏼‍♀️ (You were fantastic though!)

Time will tell as to how this operation will help me in the longer term but one thing is certain; the treatment I received on this occasion will make me less anxious should I ever need to return.

Your expertise, effort, and relentless hard work is not lost on me, and I am incredibly appreciative of YOU as individuals, and the NHS as a whole.

Big Love, and many thanks,

🩵🤍💙X

Dear Zakristy,

Firstly I would like to apologise that there has been a delay in responding to you.

I am delighted to read that you felt so well cared for and in expert hands. I will ensure that this is passed on to Mr Smith-Walker as well as the Eden and anaesthetic teams.

Reading your wonderful feedback will undoubtedly reassure other patients who may be anxiously awaiting procedures and surgery with us, so we very grateful to you for taking the time to post of your positive experience.
