"I feel like there’s genuine care, compassion and empathy"

About: Adult Mental Health / Ward 1 (Adult Mental Health)

(as a service user),

I was admitted to ward 1 at UHW recently. I have been in psychiatric wards many times in the past and had many bad experiences, however I must say so far this has been the most positive admission I’ve had.

I feel listened to by the staff, I feel like there’s genuine care, compassion and empathy displayed by all levels of staff on the ward.  In particular, charge nurse Lisa has been a godsend. I have been nursed by Lisa in the past and she is without doubt the best mental health nurse I’ve ever came across.

I'd also like to highlight the excellent care I have received from Megan, who has thus far been incredibly helpful and has a fantastic attitude toward her patients. It has been four years since my last admission and I have seen a great deal of positive change in the ward environment from when I was last an inpatient, particularly in staff morale.

Thank you ward 1 staff for being there for me during a really difficult time, you have started to restore my faith that people do care.
