"No one appears to be familiar with this pathway"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

Recent needle stick injury. Given IM hepatitis injection. Anti virals. Immunoglobulin.

Still not been contacted with results 3 weeks later!

No contact other than  1 email to give me an appointment in 3 weeks time

Unhelpful staff

No one appears to me to be familiar with this pathway

I feel process of follow up for these incidents certainly needs to be tightened as it is very flawed

Dear Isabella3

Thank you for getting in touch and I am sorry to hear that you had a needle stick injury and needed the support of the Emergency Department here at University Hospital Wishaw.

I will ensure that your comments are fed back to the clinical area, so that we can take learning from your experience and remind the Emergency staff of this pathway to ensure that staff are familiar with the Needlestick Injury pathway for the benefit of our patients.

Best wishes

Faith
