"Thank you for my positive birth experience"

About: Maternity care / Labour suite maternity

(as the patient),

I gave birth to my wee boy in June 2024 and had a truly positive experience at RAH and also with the local community midwifery team.

I ended up having an emergency c-section and although it wasn’t the birth I had visioned, it was a really positive experience thanks to the wonderful staff. From the midwives, to the anaesthetists and to the wonderful doctors and surgeons- thank you. To the lovely surgeon who kept me focusing on my breathing and looking at the panda picture on the wall whilst I had a spinal (if you know, you know!) thank you.

Thank you to Vicki and Lorraine (and the student whose name I cannot remember- so sorry!) thank you for being so supportive during my pregnancy and whilst visiting me at home afterwards.

I want to say a special thank you to the wonderful Priya. Priya was there to support me when I had a miscarriage last year. Fast forward a year, she was there to support me during labour and bringing our new baby into the world. Thank you.

Bringing your wee boy into the world is such a special moment, and we’re delighted to know that the care and compassion of our team helped make it a positive experience for you, even in unexpected circumstances like an emergency c-section.

Your words about the staff—from midwives to anaesthetists, doctors, and surgeons—perfectly capture the dedication they bring to their work every day. We’ll make sure the team, including Vicki, Lorraine, and the student midwife, hears how much their support meant to you during your pregnancy and after your little one’s arrival.

A very special thank you for highlighting Priya’s role in your journey.
