"Birth of our daughter"

About: Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary / Maternity care

(as a service user),

From the very first phone call to the unit to say my waters had broke until the moment we were discharged with our daughter, we cannot fault anything regarding our care.

The midwives are clearly very busy and likely under staffed, as is most of the NHS, however this was not reflected in the outstanding care and attention we received. All staff were so friendly, knowledgeable and nothing was a problem to them.

Diane in particular, who was our midwife for the majority of our stay, was fantastic. She made us feel at ease straight away and we really valued the fact that our ward midwife came to theatre with us for the section, this continuity of care really made a difference in helping my wife and I feel relaxed and supported throughout the process.

All staff in theatre were great, everyone introduced themselves and we were talked through everything that was happening at all times. Thank you for making the birth of our daughter such a positive experience all round.
