"Compassion and care seems to be a passion of theirs"

About: Kilbryde Hospice / Inpatient Care

(as a service user),

My father put up an admiral battle against cancer for 6 years, remaining strong and resilient throughout.

The time came for him to enter Kilbryde Hospice where he continued with his resilient personality but this time with the professionals taking amazing care of him and allowing the family to become family at this overwhelming time instead of being the carers, this gave myself and my family the time to concentrate of being a family all with the support of staff behind us.

The staff at Kilbryde could not have done more for my dad and our family, nothing seemed too much for them and the care, empathy and professionalism was nothing short of world class, everything felt personal, as if they had known my dad for years not just a few days. I have no doubt that with my dad being in Kilbryde his last remaining time on this earth was massively improved by each and every member of staff who had any encounter with him.

After 6 years of caring for my dad through his cancer journey it was such an honour and a privelidge to be allowed  to just be a son, wife, granddaughter and great grandson to our loved one knowing his care was being expertly provided to him by Kilbryde as was our care too because the family was included in everything and our well-being was also very important to the staff.

When my dads time came the staff made sure he was not alone while family made their way to the hospice to say their final goodbyes and my dads room was all prepared for us arriving giving us quality time during his final minutes with us.

If your love one suffers from a life limiting illness then I would encourage you to reach out to Kilbryde Hospice in East Kilbride simply because they are the experts and compassion and care seems to be a passion of theirs and without a shadow of doubt my dad received world class care from every single member of staff from cleaners, volunteers, the chef, reception, fund raisers and of course doctors and nurses!

I cannot praise you all high enough and am so thankful we found you just when we needed you the most.

Hi Serpico.

My name is Donna Reilly and I am one of the deputy Managers within the inpatient unit at Kilbryde Hospice. Thank you for taking time to write this beautiful care opinion.

I would like to say that it was a pleasure caring for your father and I am so glad that as a family you were able to spend quality time with him and allow the nursing team and doctors to take over his care. I am so grateful that you and your family felt it was high quality care as we strive as a team to offer this to every patient that comes to the hospice. Thank you for stating that staff were caring, compassionate, empathetic and professional in their manner at all times. These words mean such a lot to staff.

It is also important that the family felt supported through out this difficult time, and that you felt as well as the clinical team, housekeeping, chef, volunteers, reception and fund raisers were so welcoming and supportive.

I am so sorry for the loss of your lovely father, please take care of yourself and your family.

If there is anything we can support you with in the future please do not hesitate to contact us at kilbryde hospice.

Best wishes

Donna
