"Incredibly valuable to hear from other parents"

About: NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde / Home Birth Team

(as a service user),

We have attended two Meet the Midwife team sessions at the New Victoria hospital and have really enjoyed both of them. We found it so reassuring to meet the other midwives in the team that may be there during the birth process, but it was also incredibly valuable to hear from other parents who have had recent home-birth experiences, as well as from parents whose birth plan had to change last minute due to complications. As first-time parents planning a home birth, we've found it hard to connect with other people going through similar experiences to us, but these two sessions have been absolutely fantastic and helped us feel reassured, and gave us an opportunity to ask questions and speak to people in the same situation. Would really encourage anyone thinking about home birth to go along.

The home birth team have done an amazing job of setting up a really welcoming space and formatted the group session leaving us feeling better connected to other parents as well as the home birth team. More of this, please!

Dear Smith2345

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience at the Meet the Midwife sessions at the New Victoria Hospital. We’re thrilled to hear how valuable you found these sessions as you prepare for your home birth.

It’s fantastic that the opportunity to meet the midwifery team and connect with other parents helped reassure and support you as first time parents. Hearing about others experiences, especially those who’ve navigated home births or adjusted plans, is such a meaningful way to build confidence and community. We’re delighted that the home birth team created a welcoming space and structured the sessions in a way that made you feel informed, supported, and better connected.

Your encouragement to others considering a home birth is appreciated, and it’s feedback like yours that helps us understand how impactful these programs can be. We’ll share your kind words with the home birth team, who will be so pleased to know their efforts are making a difference.

Wishing you all the best as you prepare to welcome your baby, and thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.

Kind regards

Kevin
