I had an MRI arranged at RCHT which was exceedingly difficult to arrange due to the presence of an implant that is not widely used.
I spoke with one of the MRI team at great length to ensure we were aware of all risks and he throughly explained the complexity of performing the scan. He communicated via email, knowing I was deaf and even when I arrived was extremely deaf aware and discussed my preferred types of communication.
The entire team, including clinical imaging assistants, went above and beyond to keep me comfortable and gave me the knowledge to confidently proceed with the scan.
I’m aware of how much hard work they put into arranging this and despite other MRI teams in the country sadly being unable to perform this, the team took the challenge head on and did their utmost best to make sure it was done safely. I cannot thank the MRI team enough, as I felt that this scan was incredibly important to my health and diagnostics.
Every person I saw and spoke with remained friendly, comforting and knowledgable about all aspects despite it undoubtedly being a daunting experience with several factors that had the potential to go awry.
The scan went smoothly, I even had the chance for a nap! I’m amazed at how quickly they arranged this in spite of all the difficulties it presented. And again, the deaf awareness was some of the best I have seen in over a decade of patience experience with many departments and different hospitals.
Thank you again to the radiologist and his team for making this such a positive experience.
"Caring and efficient scanning team"
