I was feeling very ill and was advised by pharmacist that needed antibiotics and needed to make an appointment with doctors surgery. Rang as soon as surgery phone lines were open - told I was no. 28 in queue, got to speak to the receptionist after 45 min wait to be told there were no appointments left. Would not give prescription for antibiotics without seeing doctor - couldn't see doctor as there were no appointments have to ring tomorrow. Was desperate by this time and rang 111. The clinician I was put through to asked lots of questions and said I needed assistance urgently. She sent an urgent prescription to the pharmacy which I was able to collect within 20 mins. She reiterated her concern that I needed to be examined, I no longer have any faith in GP's and so she told me to see how I was after two days and if I was no better to ring the surgery and ask for an urgent 111 appointment and if none were available I should ring 111 again. I feel slightly better and hope that when I have finished the course of antibiotics I will not need to try to get assistance from my GP.
