"Treatment has been fantastic"

My treatment here in Radiotherapy has been absolutely fantastic. I have had no problems at all. My appointments have all run to schedule and I have only ever had to wait about 10 minutes to be seen which isn’t a problem. All the staff are brilliant - Bob, Jacqui, Sarah and Karen in Reception have all made my life so much easier. You get to know people here because you see the same faces each time you come in - we can support each other.

I have no issues with car parking because I have transport provided. St John’s and the Hub transport are fantastic but I have had problems with the Hospital Ambulance Transport Service - for instance the other week I waited a couple a few hours to be picked up on two separate occasions. It would be good if they could let me know what is happening if they are going to be late. Instead of which I have to phone Reception and they in turn have to try to contact the Ambulance Service which isn’t always easy.

I know of other people who have experienced the same sort of delays. If the drivers could phone folk it would make a huge difference.

The people at the Hub transport are always fantastic - they keep your spirits up.

All the staff here deserve a medal - I’d like to mention Caitlin and Greg, two radiotherapy nurses who are brilliant.

My name is Damian Parr, Head of therapeutic radiography, it is wonderful to hear that you have felt your life is made easier by the staff you encountered, this is exactly how we want our patients to feel as we know there can be such a lot happening when you are on treatment. Thankyou for highlighting the staff that have made a difference and will ensure I pass on your lovely comments (and medal) as it will be greatly appreciated.

I am glad to hear that in the most part your appointments run smoothly although I am sorry that there where some communication difficulties regarding transport and will feed this back.
