"Prostate Cancer Care"

About: Guy's Hospital

I found the administration of care very good. It was simple to follow the range of investigations and examinations. The team offered a range of options and respected my decision to agree with their recommendation. The team works well together and I was given lots of time to consider the way forward at every stage. I found the Nurse Led Prostate Cancer follow up clinic was unable to meet my needs. There were no male nurses available at any of the clinics to discuss intimate issues. The female nurses could not follow some of the sexual concerns and dimple trotted out some standard replies which did not match my needs or questions. They simply didn't accept the issues I raised and were dismissive. I had to contact alternative support groups to speak to male clinicians who could relate and empathise with my condition and situation. It is disappointing male cancer has no male nursing within the team and male modesty cannot always be respected.
