My daughter woke up at 3am with pain in her tummy. At 7am she was sick. She described the pain as being on the right hand side of her tummy.
I called NHS 111, they also suspected appendicitis and sent us to the Out of Hours service. Her symptoms were relatively mild, no fever and she wasn't in agony. However the advanced nurse practitioner was concerned and didn't feel comfortable sending us home.
We headed off to A&E at the children's hospital. We were seen quickly and then sent to a ward, awaiting surgery. Although the appendicitis was early stage we were dealt with quickly and with a lot of care and understanding.
I was so impressed that every health care professional listened to my daughter and didn't dismiss her or me. She's home now and she wasn't left until her condition was worse. She was dealt with before she was in agonising pain or it became a medical emergency.
"The care my child recieved"
