"Was instructed to pay for NHS Services in A&E"

About: Barnsley Hospital

Never in my life have I gone to A&E and been asked to pay for services such as a scan of my knee or a simple explanation of my injury in writing. I was told it was wear and tear. Then it was a soft tissue injury. An then when asking for a written explanation get handed a knee sprain standard form and the band 7 nurse I saw refused point blank unless I paid her to write my outcome on a piece of paper. My personal expectations of the NHS is a service with the only aim to help people. Free at the point of access. A band 7 wants to charge her NHS patients and I personally would deem this to be gross misconduct given she is employed by the NHS. I have contacted PALS but would like this to be highlighted of the treatment provided by Barnsley hospital. I believe a band 7 nurse to be the one explaining she will do work if I personally pay her. This is beyond disgraceful. I believe she should not be allowed to work with the general public when she is requesting payment of services in the NHS. I hope her bosses are aware she suggests private payment for services provided by the NHS?
