My 4 month old son took unwell and I noticed his breathing wasn't right (being a nurse myself I realised that his condition was deteriorating) and contacted out of hours right away as it was the weekend. The service was prompt and my son was rushed straight to ward 16 for assessment and furthermore to ward 6 for a diagnosis of RSV Bronchlitis. From the minute we arrived on the ward the staff had been amazing to both myself and my son as I was staying in with him throughout his treatment. The nurses were very prompt and experienced in dealing with his condition and added much needed comfort at a time of distress. To name a few Ruth and Aimee were brilliant and gave excellent person centred care to both my son and I. During the night we were looked after by an angel of a nurse named Gillian who just made our whole experience comforting and we felt like we were in very good hands. I can't thank Gillian enough for her kindness, professionalism and person centred care. She made an worrying time that little bit more comforting. The student nurses were also excellent and the care given by the catering staff, auxiliaries and cleaners we were spoilt rotten. The ward manager Yvonne even came in to chat to us and was very caring and looked after us very well. Thank you to all the staff for helping my son get on the mend and for looking after us. We will never forget it.
"Excellent care for my baby son"
