"Parking"

About: Inverclyde Royal Hospital / Outpatients

(as a relative),

I’ve brought my mother up for a consultation. She’s had 3 hip replacements in the same leg and being considered for a 4th. She is a blue badge holder and we can't get a space near the entrance because there are 6 spaces being used up by non badge holders.

I complained about this couple years ago and was told that measures were about to be introduced to made this a penalty.

I’ve walked the entire carpark and it’s evident that it’s been poorly designed, 30% of the available parking has no white lines and some curved areas (aesthetically pleasing but not conducive to maximising parking area) have lines too far apart.

At the very least, can’t there be stickers saying:

No parking on the grass verge.

No parking without blue badge

No parking at the drop off zone

No parking on double yellow lines.

The whole carpark needs overhauled and redesigned with less curved areas, bushes and grassy areas. A 2nd level would be ideal here.

Dear casingqb79

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch via Care Opinion.

Please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience and upset caused to both you and your Mother.

Your feedback has been shared with my colleagues in Facilities who have advised:

Unfortunately, there are no parking attendants on this site to manage the parking situation. We are, however, very well aware of the situation and are actively trying to take steps to manage this. At the present time, our Facilities staff check the areas from time to time, but unfortunately staff are only able to speak with the drivers and ask them to refrain from parking in the area when the vehicles arrive/leave or when the driver is with the vehicle. Staff have no powers to issue Fixed Penalty notices. However, we are currently in working with Inverclyde Council to see if it would be possible to use their Parking Wardens on site to book offending vehicles. This is something that we are hoping to introduce that will actively stop offending vehicles from parking in these areas.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and I apologise again for the inconvenience caused.

Kind Regards

Nicole
