Sad and disappointed. First was told I'd be interviewed by 3 student nurses. Was not asked for permission and the reason for it was not explained to me. They asked personal questions. I found it uncomfortable and stressful. 10 minutes of awkward questioning.
Then when they came in, the dermatologist looked down on me, told me they had seen more severe cases of eczema, seemed rude and like I was wasting their time.
I was referred in the first place because eczema was so bad, unfortunately it is often bad in cycles and the appt had taken 4 months so by the time I was seen it wasn't obvious. Though still the scaly skin was a give away of how bad it can get.
The dermatologist acted like I didn't know what I was doing. I have suffered with this my whole life so do have some insights. For example, they told me using some meds has been found to make eczema worse so stop using them. I said doc had prescribed them and they helped reduce itchiness. They told me to throw them in the bin. I said I was being given conflicting advice and just wanted help to deal with this as it's such a horrible condition.
The dermatologist was dismissive and I felt they had no sympathy at all. The way they stood as I sat and peered down at me made me feel small. I will never consent to being referred to this service again.
