"I felt like I mattered and will never forget the care"

About: Continuity of Midwifery Carer Service / Sapphire Team Daisy Hill Hospital / Maternity care Daisy Hill Hospital / Special Care Baby Unit

(as a service user),

Thank you to Midwife Joanne for her genuine care and support when I attended an antenatal appointment for my second pregnancy. My first baby had been very difficult. She listened and  made me feel better when I was anxious and worried. I left feeling reassured and optimistic.

Thank you to this fantastic Sapphire team for supporting me through my pregnancy, labour and after. I had a very traumatic time with my first baby and was worried throughout my second pregnancy about how things would be. All I can say is every member of the team were like my guardian angels. They reassured me,  listened to me and advocated for me, providing the highest standard of care at all times. It was very clear they lived for their patients' well being and cared deeply about us. The midwives on this team all had positive attitudes, were empathetic and warm and were highly professional. Maria is clearly an excellent leader. The support of team Sapphire carried me through this challenging time and I will never forget them for what they did for me and my baby boy. A special thanks to Rachael, Elaine, Grace and all the midwives (sorry if Ieft anyone out).

My baby boy was admitted to SCBU in Daisy Hill immediately after he was born. I want to say thank you to all the staff who looked after him during this challenging two weeks. The care they provided to Noah was second to none- I joked that he was being looked after by a team of mammies. I should have been more worried about being separated from him and going home but I knew every nurse caring for him would look after him like he was one of their own. This made it so much easier and allowed me to rest and recover after a difficult c-section knowing he was okay. The SCBU nurses not only cared for Noah diligently but me and my whole family- they took photos of him, gave us updates, made us tea and water, listened to us, supported us and sent a colouring book home to my older child from the baby. A special thank you to Anne Marie, Wilma, Clare and Mary who were there most days for Noah- (all the staff were amazing, unfortunately I forgot to write the names down as it was such a busy time).  Thank you also to Dr Leemon and Dr Lewis the Paediatricians and the Junior Doctors who assisted them. They provided care of the highest standard and were decisive and professional in their care for him.

SCBU is just a treasure in this community and I hope it will always remain here. I will never forget what you have done for my family.
