About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Cardiology

(as a service user),

I stayed in 5A as part of my prep and then recovery after heart surgery. The staff were excellent and super friendly from the beginning. I was honestly scared and they provided reassurance to me, and treated me with professionalism and kindness.

I had one hard day during my stay when recovering and became quite emotional. The nurses of the ward were very understanding and went above and beyond to help me get comfortable, even though they were incredibly busy and having to deal with difficult patients and some abuse. I'll never forget the kindness of all of them, despite not knowing all of their names.

Thank you to Eimear, Laura, Sarah, Eamonn and everyone who works in this ward, you are all fantastic.

Thank you for taking the time to communicate with us through Care Opinion. This is a really useful tool for us to share experiences and learning with patients so that we can hear about your treatment and care and hopefully continue to strive to provide the best possible care that we can.

First of all, I am delighted that you are recovering well following your heart surgery.

I am also really pleased that you experienced excellent pre-operative care on Ward 5A and felt reassured about your surgery as this can be extremely frightening for a lot of patients.

It is also very encouraging to hear that the nursing staff went above and beyond to help you get comfortable and that they carried out their roles with great professionalism and attention.

I shall certainly pass on your appreciation to the staff on Ward 5A in particular Eimear, Laura, Sarah and Eamon. I know that all the Ward staff will welcome these very positive comments as it is great not only to feel appreciated but also to know that such a positive difference has been made for our patients.

Finally, I would like to wish you a full recovery and once again thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
