"A positive birth following trauma"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Maternity

(as a service user),

I recently had my second baby on labour ward. My previous birth at a different hospital had been very traumatic and this subsequent pregnancy was high-risk. I was anxious that the same trauma would happen again.

After triage, midwife Poppy helped me to come to an informed decision about how my care would progress. She did not underplay the risk to me or the baby, but also supported me to advocate for myself.

She showed me empathy and respect throughout my labour and delivery, and with her support I had an empowering birth experience and safely delivered my daughter. I am so grateful for the care she provided to my family.

Dear OtterL

Thankyou so much for this lovely feedback. I am so pleased that you felt Poppy ensured you made an informed decision and supported you and showed empathy and respect.

I will ensure Poppy receives this feedback and the rest of the Maternity teams. It always boosts morale to know we are making a difference.

Thankyou
