"Made a scary experience a lot more pleasant"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Gynaecology (Ward 32)

(as a service user),

Having spent 2 years back and forth with gynaecology and some very upsetting appointment feeling unheard, I was very anxious about my recent visit. This would be the 5th gynaecologist I was seeing and the last experience ended with me feeling patronised and upset.

Dr Lamont could see how anxious I was and took the time to fully explain things to me, talk me through the scan and explain her thoughts. She put me totally at ease and made a scary experience a lot more pleasant.

She is a fantastic asset to the Royal Alexandra and they could use more like her and Dr Flannigan.  I left feeling heard and validated with a solid plan of treatment moving forward , feeling less anxious and more positive.

Please please keep her, I feel she is exactly what women that attend clinic A and B need.

Dr Lamont , thank you

Dear Debxr55,

Thank you so much for spending time offering feedback.

I am saddened to hear your previous experiences have been negative, but I am so glad your recent experience with Dr Lamont has been much better and that she put you totally at ease and made a scary experience a lot more pleasant. This is the standard of care we strive to deliver.

I will share this with both Dr Lamont and Dr Flanagan.

If you wish me to explore any of your previous concerns further, please contact me on the e-mail below:

I hope you will be less anxious at any future appointments.

Kind regards,

Nikki

Update posted by Debxr55 (a service user)

Hi Nikki,

Thank you. Dr Flanagan was the 3rd gynaecologist I had seen after being admitted to ward 32 for the 2nd time. She was amazing as were all the nursing team and the student drs.

She’s the reason I got my life back and she was the first to tell me ‘it’s not okay‘. She was reassuring and answered any questions I had, but mostly she listened and and had a plan in place which had given me my life back.

Unfortunately my experience with a couple of other gynaecologists before and after Dr Flanagan was not the same and I felt very unheard and was so anxious that this experience would be the same again.

Jennifer at clinic B has tried to get me back with Dr Flanagan as I felt trust in her. Honestly Dr Lamont restored my faith and I would be happy to stay under her care. She is very caring and puts you so at ease. She’s listens to your concerns and explains everything clearly.

I can’t fault they care I have had from all the staff at clinic B or ward 32. Jennifer is an angel and has reassured me on every visit for my decapeptyl jags. The good definitely outweighs the not so great experiences I had.

Hi Debxr55,

Thank you for this update. Jen will certainly make sure you are looked after in Clinic B - along with Dr Lamont.

Take care.
