"Appointments continually cancelled, no answer on phone"

About: New Stobhill Hospital / Gynaecology Clinic

(as the patient),

I met with my Dr in March – via Zoom, which is not practical for a gynaecological based appointment. During this it was confirmed I would need to visit the clinic and this would be arranged within a few weeks. My appointment was sent to me for 3 months after my initial meetings, not a few weeks as noted during my Zoom consultation.

This appointment was then cancelled and rearranged, now 8 months after my initial Zoom consultation, after being told I would be seen in a matter of weeks.

This appointment was then further cancelled, which I was unable to make – I called the appointment line and was given the secretary's direct number as I was not happy to then wait until April 2025 when the appointments were continually cancelled on me.

It took me several weeks to get to speak with the secretary as the phone constantly rang out, I left messages and had no reply. At this point the secretary confirmed they would have to speak to the Dr about this directly and get back to me – I have still not heard back via phone call but have had a letter cancelling the most recent appointment appointment and rescheduling for a time when I am on holiday and unable to make. I have now been told the next appointments are in June 2025, which I feel is completely unacceptable.

I have called every day for over two weeks to no one picking up the phone, despite having confirmation staff are at their desks and the mailbox being too full to receive any more messages, I finally managed to leave one and still have no reply and the phone is back to not even ringing.

I asked why my original appointments were continually cancelled to be told clinic appointments are made months in advance and cancelled if the Dr is not on the rota for that day/week. I cannot understand this at all and why a Dr who has patients booked in would not be Rota’d in for the day a clinic is booked. I think this is a terrible service which clearly does not work.

I would like to raise a formal complaint for the constant cancellations and have an appointment as soon as possible, again it has been out with my hands for the previous cancellations and holidays were booked after having confirmation of the appointment.

I have already emailed and have again received no response. I look forward to receiving a positive outcome and response within a timely matter.
