"Our da’s care"

About: Fife Community Services / Hospital at Home General practices in Fife Victoria Hospital / Admissions Unit 1 (Emergency Medical) Victoria Hospital / Cardiology Victoria Hospital / Medicine of the Elderly

(as a relative),

Our da was at the doctor for a checkup. I mentioned his recent shortness of breath. After an examination his GP advised he attend hospital for a review of his low oxygen levels. He was diagnosed with pneumonia, heart failure and an irregular heart beat. It was a shock as he had never been in hospital before even though he is in his late 80s. He spent a week in hospital. Since discharge he has been under the care of the Hospital at Home Team and has had a care package introduced. His care has been outstanding.

We especially want to thank Dr Gentleman our GP, the nursing staff in AMAU at the Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy, Dennis and Dr Everett from cardiology, Dr Khan and Dr Woods and the nursing staff from ward 32 at the Victoria Hospital. The nurses and HCSW’s who were particularly caring in ward 32 included Hazel, Chloe, Audrey, Nia and Robyn. The Hospital at Home team and carers have been fantastic. We are kept informed of everything.

We are forever grateful that we have more time with our amazing da.

Thank you everyone.
