In July this year I was laid in bed and was unable to get myself up for at least ten minutes, I was unable to put my left leg to the floor and was in a lot of pain. The following morning it was still the same so I asked my son to run me to the A & E at Dumfries. The doctors examined me, took bloods and tests and diagnosed a particularly bad arthritic flare-up. I was then referred to the Lanarkshire physiotherapy service in Douglas.
The lady has now visited me three times - once a week for the past three. I was very impressed with her. On her first visit she asked me some questions about my health and what I wanted to achieve - this being able to walk unaided from my front door to the bus stop so I could go to the next village. We discussed exercises and she gave me a sheet with exercises and instructions how to perform each of them. Being partially sighted (she was unaware of this until we met) I struggled to read these so she took the time to read each one, explain and demonstrate to me. Very kind.
On her second visit she had taken each individual exercise and instructions and had enlarged it to the size of the page for me which made all the difference to me. I practised each one and she watched me to make sure I was doing them correctly. I was so impressed and pleased. She asked if I felt they had helped and if I could feel any improvements.
On the third visit we did indeed walk to the bus stop together.
Very impressed by the kindness and support received.
