"My recent full knee replacement"

About: Trauma & orthopaedics / Orthopaedic National Treatment Centre Victoria Hospital / Pre-assessment

(as the patient),

My knees have deteriorated over several years  before getting to the point where I contacted my GP. This was the start of my journey that led me to The National Treatment Centre at The Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for a total knee replacement.  Of course I attended The Pre-Assessment at Kirkcaldy where the staff were simply excellent and professional in doing their work.

My procedure was set down and I duly presented myself at the appointed hour.  To say that the ward staff were anything other than caring, considerate and professional at all times would be to do them a disservice.  I cannot praise them high enough.

The surgical team, led by Mr Keenan, were also extremely professional and put me at my ease throughout.  Visits from the physios and occupational therapists certainly maintained the standards set by their colleagues.

The onus is now very much on me to prove that the efforts of the entire staff, for which I am so grateful, were not in vain.

The National Treatment Service in Kirkcaldy is truly a wonderful asset to the NHS.

Dear Jreggae

Hello my name is Tanya and I am one of the charge nurses here at the National Treatment Centre.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to leave this wonderful and valuable feedback. We welcome all feedback, as this information allows our team here to adapt and develop our service and strives us to continue delivering high quality and person centred care to all.

We here at the National Treatment Centre aim to put all our patients at ease and ensure they are as comfortable as possible when attending for their operation. We strive to do this through our effective communication, reassurance and good team working from all our departments. I am delighted to see that this has shone through for you throughout your stay with us. I am pleased to see that our staff maintained the high standards of professionalism that we aim to reach here at the NTC.

I will pass your kind words of feedback on to my fellow colleagues in theatres, physiotherapy staff, occupation therapy staff and Mr Keenan himself. They will be delighted with this feedback.

On behalf of myself and our team here at The National Treatment Centre we wish you well in your recovery journey.

Take Care,

Tanya McTaggart
