My knees have deteriorated over several years before getting to the point where I contacted my GP. This was the start of my journey that led me to The National Treatment Centre at The Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for a total knee replacement. Of course I attended The Pre-Assessment at Kirkcaldy where the staff were simply excellent and professional in doing their work.
My procedure was set down and I duly presented myself at the appointed hour. To say that the ward staff were anything other than caring, considerate and professional at all times would be to do them a disservice. I cannot praise them high enough.
The surgical team, led by Mr Keenan, were also extremely professional and put me at my ease throughout. Visits from the physios and occupational therapists certainly maintained the standards set by their colleagues.
The onus is now very much on me to prove that the efforts of the entire staff, for which I am so grateful, were not in vain.
The National Treatment Service in Kirkcaldy is truly a wonderful asset to the NHS.
