"A CAMHs worker who helped me; my experience with her."

About: Child and Adolescent Mental Services / CAMHS Newry & Mourne

(as the patient),

My CAMHs counsellor Abbie, helped me through a period of roughly 4-5 months in my local CAMHS and was genuinely the sweetest counsellor I've gone to. She was so relatable and lovely, and we got on so well. She helped me with my anxiety and worries, but she was also just really good to chat too if I ever felt like it.

She's going into a different position so I won't be able to see her much anymore, and I'll miss her so dearly because she was one of the kindest people I've met and known in general. If you're seeing this Abbie, which I hope you do, I wish you all the best in your future career, I am sad you won't be seeing me anymore, but I loved going to you so much.

Words can't describe just how amazing she was, so helpful, and considerate. I can only hope I'm so lucky in the future with other counsellors.

Hello

Thank you for taking the time to share your personal story of CAMHS with Care Opinion. I can hear from your story that you had a good therapeutic relationship with Abbie and that you found attending CAMHS beneficial in helping in your recovery.

Young people are often provided with coping strategies that help them when life in general becomes difficult and whilst they can help in the here and now when attending CAMHS it is something that they can use throughout their life. I will share your story with Abbie and the wider team. Abbie will be pleased to receive this compliment.

I wish you well and hope that things continue to improve in your recovery. Good healthy relationships are important to everyone.

Regards

Shirley Dennison

CAMHS Manager
