"Excellent service from the continence nurse"

About: South West & Southampton Division / Frailty Support Team - South West

(as a relative),

The continence team have recently become involved in my father's care. So far, we have only received a sample of the continence wear considered appropriate for the situation. However, when a UTI was diagnosed which caused greater mobility issues and the sample pads supplied proved to be inadequate we received a visit from a specialist continence nurse (organised by the frailty team).

Sarah was excellent. She made contact and arranged the home visit quickly. Having assessed the problem, a convene was suggested, measurements taken, an initial sheath provided and an order placed with our GP for the complete system which was delivered within a couple of days.

There have been a couple of incidents which appear to have been due to carer knowledge but apart from those, dad has been able to sleep dry ever since.

Not only was Sarah efficient in dealing with the logistics of the situation, she was friendly, compassionate and effective engaging with my father in a situation which could have been fraught with emotion and prevented the positive outcome Sarah achieved.

Thank you.

We're grateful you took the time to reflect on your care. We understand how difficult it can be when things don’t go right. This will be passed on to the team so they can see the impact of their work. Thanks again for your feedback—it's really appreciated.
