Our dear mother took a blood clot early in October and sadly passed in Ward A6 Antrim Area hospital a few days later.
As a family we had just recently lost both our Father and our Sister and found my Mum’s sudden illness and ultimate death extremely traumatic and very difficult to deal with. I cannot express correctly in words how amazing the Management, Doctors, Consultant, Nurses and Domestic staff were in Ward A6 especially to my Mum, my sister and myself. My mother was treated with the utmost care and dignity and the nurses especially Pepsi and Christine never left her side. They along with the Domestic (I have forgotten her name) provided my sister and myself with everything from coffee, tea to bedding and towels and supported us through our very difficult time. I will never ever forget these wonderful people, I cannot put into words the impact they had on us as a family at such a sad time.
I also have to mention Nial the A&E doctor who initially assessed mum. He continuously updated us, showed both empathy and sympathy and we know he did everything he possibly could to help mum. Whilst our time in Antrim Area hospital was sad and extremely stressful, we honestly could not have coped had it not been for the very professional and dedicated team in A6. We will forever be thankful and grateful. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts, may you continue to touch lives with your healing hands in the way you touched ours.
"We will forever be thankful and grateful"
