"The care was very thorough"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department University Hospital Hairmyres / Medical Assessment Unit

(as the patient),

I took unwell in work on Tuesday (I am a Nurse myself) and I called a colleague who took me straight to UHH A&E.

Although it was really busy I was triaged and then seen by a HCSW who took my bloods etc. I was then called into a cubicle by the doctor and assessed.  I had many tests done and the care was very thorough.  Although the department was extremely busy the staff were very attentive and an agency nurse Philip always checked in I was okay, he was a delight and kept my spirits up.

I was then admitted to ward 2 overnight and again the staff were brilliant.  My nurse Lynsey again was really busy but made sure I had everything I needed showing me great care.  The 2 HCSW on nightshift and dayshift both called Leigh showed excellent care also, not just to myself but to the other 5 ladies I shared a room with.  They were very attentive.

I was discharged the next day after assessment by Dr McDougall who was lovely, professional and very caring.  I can't thank the staff enough for making my journey a pleasant one as I was very nervous about not only my symptoms but being on the other side of being in the hospital.  Keep up the excellent work during these tough times.

Dear AngiM79

Thank you for your feedback.

It’s nice to hear that the staff were thorough, attentive and caring during your admission and that the staff members gave you reassurance to put your nerves at ease as we do strive to ensure we give excellent care to our patients, sometimes under challenging circumstances.

I will ensure to share your lovely feedback to the agency nurse Philip, Lynsey, both Leigh’s and Dr McDougal.

Hope you are recovering well at home.

Kind Regards

Shirley-anne
