"Not seen on time"

About: Rutherglen & Cambuslang Locality Support Service / Treatment Room (Rutherglen and Cambuslang)

(as the patient),

I called into Cambuslang gait treatment room for bloods...I arrived at 8.30am knowing that the nurses taking bloods didn't start until 8.45am...I was then shouted on going on 9.05... I asked why they didn't start at the proper time and was told they were busy...I then asked why no one had the decency to come and tell us they were running late..I personally think that would be too much bother for them.

I would like very much if going back to Cambuslang gait to be taken on time that would be good for a change...this seems to be an acceptable thing in the NHS, get a time for an appointment but never get taken on that time.

I think it should be easy keeping to the proper start times...like I had to do when working.

Dear Corsajohn

I apologise that you feel your wait was lengthy. As I am sure you are aware it is currently a drop in service for Phlebotomy and not an appointment system. The average wait time for Phlebotomy is 10 minutes, however due to a variety of reasons for example staffing issues and patient emergencies it can be longer at times. There is currently signage within the waiting rooms to make patients aware of this. We also offer Phlebotomy service at Rutherglen Primary Care Centre which opens at 8am if this would be better suited in future.

Kind regards

Update posted by Corsajohn (the patient)

Hi Louise

Sorry I totally disagree with this, and the reason being I have always been told the nurses start at 8-45am so 20 minutes after that time is out of order as far as I'm concerned. Also, someone could have had the decency to let us know they were running late.

If staff actually want to start at that time then maybe they should, but we should all be told that.

To me personally it feels like excuses that's my opinion - are they not supposed to start at 8-45 or is it later? Surely we should know the right time?

Thanks

Dear Corsajohn

Before we begin our bloods and go service there are many safety inspections required to ensure the health and safety of our patients which include the emergency equipment. Due to staff shortages these inspections can occasionally take longer than planned.

I understand your frustration and I’m sorry you were not informed there would be a 20-minute delay. We will take your feedback on board and address this in future.

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch.

Kind regards
