"The care and respect given to my Son"

About: Victoria Hospital / Admissions Unit 2 (Emergency Surgical) Victoria Hospital / General Surgery

(as a parent/guardian),

I understand the pressures of NHS Fife, my Son was admitted through a quick and efficient service at A&E with suspected Appendicitis in early Nov 24, he was made comfortable and spent the night AU2 by a great caring team that looked after my Son and my Wife (whom stayed with him) until he went to surgery.

On return from surgery my Son was moved to Ward 53 to recover, he was put in a bay. My son is 17 who has Developed Language Disorder and sometimes cannot retain information.

Once this was explained to the Nurse in Charge of the Ward on the following day (day shift) he moved my Son to a side-room and was adapted for me to stay over, the care and attention from every single member of staff until he was discharged the next day was undoubtedly exceptional and a credit to the the people (under so much pressure and stress) still provide the highest level of care (if the Wards receive acknowledgment of service I would like to nominate Ward 53).

My Son and my family would like to thank everyone involved from our call handler to the nurse who said goodbye.

Dear James V,

Thank you for sharing such a detailed account of your experience with NHS Fife. It’s reassuring to hear that your son received such efficient and compassionate care, especially during what must have been a stressful time for your family.

It’s wonderful to hear how they not only took care of your son but also supported your wife throughout the night.

I'm pleased to read the steps the staff took to accommodate your son’s specific needs, such as moving him to a side-room and adapting it for the stay over.

Wishing your son a smooth recovery and thank you again for taking the time to highlight the efforts of the NHS Fife team. I'm sure the team will be delighted with this feedback.

Dear James V

Thank you for taking the time to leave such great feedback for the team in Admissions Unit 2.

I am pleased to hear that the team looked after both your son and your wife prior to surgery, emergency surgery can be a worrying time and I am glad that they were both looked after well.

I hope your son is recovering well at home.

Best wishes to you all

Lynsey
