"Child birth and recovery"

About: Aberdeen Maternity Hospital / Obstetrics (Maternity care) Dr Gray's Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I ended up with an emergency section. The initial recovery ward was good. However, once moved to the Ashgrove ward you are just left to your own devices. I repeatedly tried to get support with feeding with no intervention till the afternoon the day after my daughter was born at 2am. She had only had one syringe of colostrum in all that time (30ish hours). You'd press the call button and could be waiting 30-40minutes before feeding support came.

I got discharged without being informed how to administer my anticloting injections. Or that I had antibiotics to take.

Transferred to Dr Gray's as early as I could. The care there was amazing. Cannot rate enough. Staff always quickly on hand to offer support. Helped with every feed. Set up multiple methods of support. Did however have to give up and exclusively pump as by this point my daughter was at dangerous weight loss.

Hello horologiumyr99,

Thank you for the lovely feedback you have given about your stay here on Ward 3, Dr Gray's Hospital.

It is wonderful to hear you had amazing care and that you had help and support with every feed. I will ensure this is fed back to the staff, they will be delighted.

I hope your daughter is now thriving after her initial weight loss and that you are settling into family life.

Kindest regards,

Charlotte
