Despite being fairly early in recovery and not long out of the house I have so much gratitude for Francis House and every member of staff and to Inclusion for their care and referring me there.
This was my third experience of detox/treatment, the first two being within the private sector.
There is absolutely no competition between my experiences.
The care and support in this clean and homely environment was exceptional, even though I didn’t really reap the benefits and help offered until around eight weeks in due to my own stubbornness, inability to listen and my constant eye rolling attitude. Despite this, they showed me a huge amount of tolerance, kindness, understanding and patience.
I came out and promptly messed up, yet again they showed me so much support I really didn’t think I deserved.
Every member of staff seem to actually care and have a genuine investment in you, I learnt so much about myself, my addiction and they gave me the confidence to make some big life changing decisions over my future.
In addition, due to the really hard work of Lauren and Hannah in particular, at this moment in time I can say that I think I vaguely like who I am and this is such progress for me.
I don’t and won’t take anything for granted, with regards to my recovery as I know that it only takes one decision powered by my own wonky thinking I can mess up, but I do believe I have a learnt set of skills and a sense of hope I didn’t think was possible.
Before I went into the house, a previous resident confidently told me that magic happens within those walls, I really think she was on to something.
"Brilliant place where magic happens"
