"Endocrinology colossal incompetence"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital

Had a bone density scan. Had to push the department for the results as it was taking so long. The department confirmed that they had the results on 25 October; however, the consultant went on annual leave until 5 November and therefore instead of delegating the responsibility to another staff member to inform me of the results, they made me wait 11 days unnecessarily just because someone was enjoying a nice holiday. Utterly shambolic and disgraceful. In addition, I am also autistic - which they are fully aware of - and that the compulsion for certainty and information is intense and any information vacuum causes significant psychological distress. Yet they made me wait 11 days for nothing because they could not manage a simple task of delegation to have the results of my scan imparted to me on the day they were made available (25 Oct). For once, words fail me.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your story about your experience and your delay in getting your results.

I have escalated this to the appropriate team and asked them to leave an update for you.

I am sorry that you have had a longer wait for your results.

With kind regards
Rachel
