"Cancelled procedure"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Dermatology

(as the patient),

I feel utterly gutted and let down my the system. Its not a huge health issue. I've waited my time and been patient. But i've got yet another fight on my hands

After a cancer scare in June (dealt with very quickly), I was let down by the aftercare. My lump's not cancerous so it's no longer important. The clinic I saw failed to forward a referral for removal. Cue a 6-week dance to get a GP appointment. GP reluctantly made the onward referral, stating the clinic should have done it and that I may not hear back from the referral.

Now here we are and I finally get someone to listen about the pain and discomfort and have a procedure scheduled

Only for it to be cancelled, no explanation or timescales and rudely told I'll be on a wait list if and when the clinic is rescheduled and that it's cosmetic and not hurting me at all.

So now I'm left with no idea of when I'Il be out of pain, if ever and with my mental health in tatters, as I yet again feel let down by NHS. I've fought for all the treatment I've ever had on a hospital, I've fought for family's treatment in the past. It's exhausting. And there's no point going back to my GP, it'll just make my fragile mental health worse trying to get an appointment.

Dear Sadgirl9

Thank you for sharing your story with us and I appreciate how frustrating it will have been for your appointment to be cancelled The Team do not take it lightly when appointments are cancelled and they will be disappointed too.

To enable us to support you and gather further information, I would be grateful if you could contact me on 01324 566162 or alternatively by e-mail caroline.logan@nhs.scot.

I hope this is helpful and look forward to hearing from you.

Best Wishes

Caroline

Update posted by Sadgirl9 (the patient)

Its been 3 months now, almost 4 months, and still no one has contacted me about this.

I'm no further forward with getting my procedure rescheduled. I don't know if it ever will be. I don't know who to contact anymore. I cant even get a GP appointment to speak to them.

I'm constantly in pain and cant see an end in sight at all. There has been no duty of care shown. I don't know what else I can do to make my life pain free.

I could take a 2nd job and have a private operation done to help with the pain, funded by myself, but as someone who works 40 hours a week and pays income tax etc. this shouldn't be the case. I don't know what to do next.
