"I was so pleased to be treated this way"

I required treatment for a potential liver issue and out of the many times I've been to hospital due to chronic health issues this was the first time every single member of staff treated me with respect and dignity compared to the horrendous experience of stigma and judgement I get due to a personality disorder.

From A&E I was treated like a real person for a change, sent to ward 28 for five days or so and the ward doctors and nurses were so helpful and wanted to see me recovering from my mental illness symptoms that cause a manifestation in physical form. They said I could have needed a transplant and I could have died if I wasn't taken into hospital. So I used my time reflecting on changing my life after that but I'm just so happy that I was seen, heard and worried about. I'm not used to this from medical professionals at all. Despite my situation I had a positive experience with my treatment and staff interactions. Doctors listened to me and didn't rush me. They were compassionate and empathetic. I almost cried I was so pleased to be treated this way.

I really hope all the nurses on this ward get paid well. Same for the auxiliaries and the amazing catering (not sure if that's the correct job description but its all I can think of) woman. Everyone was kind and fun and to my shock there was not a single nurse with an attitude problem. Ward 28 I am extremely grateful so thank you so much for taking care of me during such a difficult time with my health.

I wish the doctors in A&E as well as the nurses could take notes from the way the staff on ward 28 conducted themselves.

Thank you again
