"The nurses on the ward have been wonderfully kind"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

We spent four nights in Caroline Thorpe of NDDH ward with my daughter being treated with appendicitis and other complications.

We were extremely concerned at times but the staff at the hospital have been kind and professional. The surgical team have been exceptional and have taken a great deal of time to explain options and reassure our daughter. They have been incredibly respectful of her wishes for a good outcome. The nurses on the ward have been wonderfully kind and the atmosphere is very reassuring. She has been monitored two hourly every night with a great deal of care. I don’t think we could have hoped for a more positive hospital experience.

Thank you very much for your lovely feedback, I’m glad that you had a positive experience with the care provided at such a concerning time. It’s great to hear that you felt well respected and that you were able to work in partnership with medical professionals through different options in your daughters treatment. We pride ourselves in patient and family centred care on Caroline Thorpe ward. Your feedback provides us with a positive overview of how the multidisciplinary team works well together having surgical and paediatric input, and is a fantastic example of our ‘collaboration and partnership’ trust care objective.
