Recently, I was a patient in the Day Surgery Ward at Hairmyres.
I would like to pass my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all staff working when I was there. They worked like a well established team and did an amazing job, from start to finish.
From the moment I walked into the ward everyone treated me so well and were genuinely lovely. The lovely receptionist was friendly and polite. All the nurses were true superstars; warm, knowledgeable, professional, kind, empathetic, approachable, respectful of every patient in the ward, cheery and reassuring to everyone.
When us patients were sat in the pre-op TV room - different nurses stuck their head round the door and beamed “is everyone ok in here? If you are cold and need a blanket, let us know. The surgeries are just being sanitised from top to bottom and then we will get you in. Not long now and we will have you on your merry way” (or words to that effect).
It really lightened the mood and instilled confidence. Plus, we knew we were moving up the surgery queue. Again - keeping us informed.
The anaesthesiologist was also great. He too was knowledgeable, warm, informative and respectful. There was a slight blip on my medical side and he went out of his way to sort it.
The surgical team were also very professional, knowledgeable and very respectful. They made sure I understood the procedure and process and that I was completely happy with everything.
Aftercare team went above and beyond. They looked after a whole recovery ward and I think we all felt in safe hands. Brought round the best cups of tea and a sandwich! Completed our discharge paperwork and were very clear to point out contact numbers, in case we needed help or support over the weekend.
All in all, what could have been a really stressful experience, was turned around by being treated by such a wonderful team. I genuinely thank each and every one of you.
Thank you!
