"Put me at ease through the whole process"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Breast Services

(as a service user),

As many women know when the letter drops through your letterbox asking you to make appt for your 3yr Mammogram, it can bring all sort of emotions, for me it is an awful sinking feeling & panic due to personal reasons.  So I called, made an appointment and even got a cancellation which was brilliant as there was less time to get anxious.

Got to ARI, asked a lovely Nurse from Purple Zone named Donna the way to the lift, brilliant directions, Floor 4 bing goes the lift, the Receptionist was lovely, asked a few questions plus asked if I didn't mind completing a survey.

Only waited a few mins & got called by Ellie the Radiographer, Ellie waited until I was in the changing room to give me instructions of what to do. Once in the actual mammogram room, Ellie took me through every step, she didn't touch me until she explained & asked if that was ok before she did anything, she put me at ease through the whole process.

Ellie asked if I would have any problems with certain movements & adjusted what I had to do. Ellie certainly made my experience of my mammogram a good one. I do hope that this will be the same in the next 3 yrs, & yes I completed the survey.

So thank you Ellie you have assisted me in having my mammogram done & one happy hubby who didn't have to pick up the pieces.

Hello Miss DMU

Firstly may I apologise for the length of time this has taken for me to respond, for whatever reason your feedback was not alerted to me in the way I have been previously and will look into this.

Thank you for taking the time to give feedback on your routine mammogram, I was delighted to read that you had such a positive experience, from coming into the hospital and being directed to our department by Donna to being greeted by our receptionist and finally to the experience that you had with Ellie that performed your mammogram. As you describe breast screening can be a daunting appointment, arousing many emotions as you explained and I'm sure Ellie will have read this and been chuffed with your feedback and the impact that she had on your visit.

The mammographers are all very good at putting our ladies at ease and as a service we look forward to welcoming you back in 3 years time!
