About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Cataract Unit

(as the patient),

I was very apprehensive in advance, and worried about blindness.

Staff were interested and caring, and although I felt under stress during the operation, a bit like at the dentist, they talked to me.

At the end of the procedure I was suffering mild shock, and this was because I was conscious throughout the procedure, and worried.

By the next day, my vision in the eye was better than it had been in the preceding 20+ years.

I think they did a great job.

I am sorry to hear that you felt very apprehensive about the surgery and you had concerns about blindness but it is reassuring to hear that the team talked to you throughout and helped to put you at ease. I am happy to hear that your vision the next day was better than it had been in 20 years.
